Two-sailor notation

A = the original sailor from Level 1. B = the companion introduced in Level 2. Left, right, up and down refer to the pictured board.

Hint 1What to notice

A stone that stops in the middle can become useful. The other moving stone supplies the stop.

Hint 2What to set up

Line up both stones one row below the checkpoint before you start either throw.

Hint 3The decisive move

Send the right-hand stone left first. Launch the other right when the first is four squares to the right of the checkpoint’s column.

  1. Prepare A’s side

A moves the right stone left, up, three right and four up. It should be one row below the checkpoint.

  2. Prepare B’s side

B moves the left stone up three tiles and right into that same row. Keep both sailors in their throwing positions.

  3. Time the collision

A pushes left across the water. When the moving stone is four squares right of the checkpoint column, B pushes right. The stones meet and create a submerged crossing beneath the checkpoint.

  4. Take the crossing

Use that new stepping point to reach the checkpoint and proceed to the boat-return board.

Check your result

The new submerged point is in the checkpoint column, not merely somewhere between the islands.

If your attempt went wrong

Undo B’s launch if the collision lands in the wrong column. An earlier or later second throw changes where they meet; keep the row setup unchanged.
