A moving pad in the bridge gap

Stop the pad at the upper bridge gap, then use a second stone to arrange the exit.

If your layout differs, compare the other boards before following this route.

Two-sailor notation

A = the original sailor from Level 1. B = the companion introduced in Level 2. Left, right, up and down refer to the pictured board.

Stop after any hint. The complete route and later-state picture remain hidden below.

Hint 1What to notice

The missing piece of the upper bridge already floats nearby. You do not need to sink a stone into its gap.

Hint 2What to set up

Prepare the pink stone on the lower bank while the other sailor moves the pad horizontally.

Hint 3The decisive move

Throw right just before the travelling pad lines up with the upper bridge gap. The timing is about the pad’s position, not a fixed number of seconds.

  1. Prepare the first relay

B sends the pink stone down to A. A moves it two tiles right and four up to B. B moves it right and pushes down, returning it to A while moving the pad right.

  2. Bridge the gap

A stands ready to push the received stone right. Make that throw as the pad approaches the gap in the upper wooden bridge. Check that it becomes a usable bridge piece.

  3. Carry the blue stone around

B moves the blue stone eleven tiles left and three down to A. A moves it three right, one up, ten right, one down and four right. It is now to the right of the pad; push up to shift the pad left.

  4. Leave together

B places the pink stone one row above the pad, pushes right and boards quickly. Continue down to A, then take both sailors south.

Check your result

The upper bridge gap is filled by the pad during the first crossing. Later, the blue-stone throw must move that pad left, not further right.

If your attempt went wrong

Undo only the timed rightward throw if the pad misses the gap. Keep the setup intact and use your current slow-time control to compare the pad with the bridge opening.
