Two-sailor notation

A = the original sailor from Level 1. B = the companion introduced in Level 2. Left, right, up and down refer to the pictured board.

Stop after any hint. The complete route and later-state picture remain hidden below.

Hint 1What to notice

The first right-hand stone builds access. The later stone travels with a pad before dropping to the dock.

Hint 2What to set up

A should prepare the horizontal throw while B gets aboard the left-moving pad.

Hint 3The decisive move

B pushes the travelling stone down when it is directly below B, delivering it to the wooden dock rather than leaving it on the ride.

  1. Reach the dock

B uses the right stone to give A a crossing to the wooden dock. A touches the checkpoint, then moves the left stone up twice and right into the lower pad’s row.

  2. Board the first pad

B moves the right stone up twice, right and up to send the pad left, then boards quickly.

  3. Return pad and stone

As B reaches the left side, A pushes the prepared stone right. The pad and stone travel right. B pushes the stone down when it is below B, sending it to the lower dock; move onto the pad below that dock.

  4. Launch the pair

A puts the dock stone up and left of the top pad, then pushes down. Both pads move right. A boards the upper one promptly.

The lower dock gives access to the final downward throw and both pads.

Check your result

The stone reaches the lower dock before the final downward launch. Both sailors should depart on separate pads.

If your attempt went wrong

If the stone travels past the dock, undo B’s downward push and wait for the correct column. Do not try to recover it with a different stone.
