Skipping Stones · Level 2 · Board 2

Catch it, then step aside

Use the same stone to carry one sailor across and then send the other onward.

A long upper bank faces a small square island below-left and a larger island below-right. A tall golden-star pillar stands at the far right.

Stop after any hint. The complete route and later-state picture remain hidden below.

Hint 1What to notice

Catching every return is not always helpful. Sometimes the stone needs to keep travelling.

Hint 2What to set up

The first upward throw sets up a short ride to the right-hand land. The return trip needs a clear lane.

Hint 3The decisive move

After A pushes the stone up for B, move A down out of the way. That lets B return the stone without an unwanted catch.

  1. Bring A to the right bank

B moves the stone four tiles left and two down, then sends it to A. A lines it up with the left pad and pushes up. Board promptly and get off on the right-hand land.

  2. Pass it around the new positions

B sends the stone right across the water and then down to A. A moves it two tiles right, beneath the pad, then pushes up to send it to B.

  3. Clear the return

Move A down out of the throwing lane. B boards the pad and returns the stone towards A. The point is to let it finish its journey rather than stop it too soon.

  4. Send B onward

A shifts the stone left and up into the lane just left of B’s pad, then throws. B rides onward; move both sailors to the continuation.

Check your result

B is carried away after the final setup. The stone must reach A’s usable lane before A makes that throw.

If your attempt went wrong

If your return stops early, inspect A’s position before changing the pad setup. Undoing one throw and stepping down is cheaper than rebuilding the entire exchange.
