Three mirrors and the western purple circle

Compare the three mirrors, the two separated rocks and the purple circle on the western island. Open a hint only when you want help linking this four-island layout.

A large eastern T-shaped island with one mirror, a southwest island with a dark-backed mirror and a rock, a narrow northern island with another mirror and rock, and a small western island with a purple circle.

Hint 1What to notice

The two rocks can open separate crossings onto the main island. Both outlying mirrors can be moved, not just used where they start.

Hint 2What to set up

Make space on the main island before bringing the northern mirror west. A mirror on the middle column otherwise blocks that move.

Hint 3The decisive move

Gather the three mirrors at the main island’s northwest corner: the southwest mirror must move aside, then return below the northern mirror. Check the final reflected landing from the southwest island.

  1. Reach the southwest island and bridge it

Call the mirror that starts on the main island the starting mirror; keep the other names tied to the southwest and northern islands. Move the starting mirror north and west to the main island’s northwest projection. Use its light to transfer to the southwest island. Push the rock east of the southwest mirror into the water gap towards the main island; it becomes a flat stepping stone.

The southwest rock is now a flat stepping stone, opening the crossing needed to move its mirror onto the main island.

  2. Bring the southwest mirror onto the main island

Push the southwest mirror east across that stone onto the main island’s lower part. Move it north along the main island’s central upright strip to the upper horizontal row. Return to the southwest island’s southern end and use the starting mirror’s light to transfer to the northern island.

  3. Bring the northern mirror across

Push the northern island’s rock into the gap between that island’s right side and the main island. Move the northern mirror across this second stone onto the main island’s upper-right area.

  4. Clear the horizontal row

Move the southwest mirror south down the main island’s central strip so it no longer blocks the upper row. Push the northern mirror west along that row into the space it occupied. Then push the southwest mirror north again, stopping immediately below the northern mirror.

  5. Gather the three mirrors at the northwest corner

Return to the southwest island and use the light to transfer back onto the main island’s upper part. Move the northern mirror farther west, next to the starting mirror. Move the southwest mirror west too, keeping it below the northern mirror. Compare the resulting three-mirror cluster with the picture.

All three mirrors are gathered at the main island’s northwest projection, with the southwest mirror below the northern mirror.

  6. Transfer to the purple circle

Return to the southern end of the southwest island. Follow the light and check that the pale reflection lands on the small western purple-circle island. Use the mirror interaction: the orange-clothed character, not just the pale reflection, must arrive there. Touch the purple circle; the recording then changes to Room 19.

Check your result

Two flat stones connect the outlying islands to the main island. All three mirrors are gathered at its northwest corner, and the actual character reaches the western purple circle before the room changes.

If your attempt went wrong

If the northern mirror cannot move west, slide the southwest mirror down the central strip first. If the final landing misses the purple-circle island, compare the three-mirror cluster and return to the southwest island’s southern light; a pale reflection alone is not completion.
